Summary of Current Research

Wassana Yantasee is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine. She graduated from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand with BS (1995) and Oregon State University (OSU) with MS (1999) and PhD in Chemical Engineering(2001) under Prof. Gregory L Rorrer. In 2001, she also received her MBA from OSU. Afterward, she became a Research Scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), operated by Battelle Memorial Institute for the US Department of Energy, where she worked until 2009. Her last position was Senior Scientist IV. While at PNNL, she was the winner of the Ronald L. Brodzinski Early Career Scientific Achievement Award (2007).

In October of 2009, she was appointed a faculty position and ONAMI-Nanomedicine Fellow at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, OHSU. Dr. Yantasee is an inventor of 8 invention disclosure reports, 1 US patent, and 3 US patent applications on the use of nanomaterials for environmental and medical applications. She has authored 5 book chapters and over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles. She has been a scientific reviewer for NIEHS-Multiproject Program Grants (P42), Superfund Basic Research Program, Bioengineering Sciences and Technologies (BST), Biomaterials and Biointerfaces Study Section, and the DOE’s Small Business Innovation Research
