Background

In 2004, Dr. Phillips founded the Center for Intensive Care Research (CICR) at OHSU. The purpose of the CICR is to develop an infrastructure and assemble expertise to facilitate critical care clinical research at OHSU. In addition, Dr. Phillips helped facilitate OHSU’s inclusion into the ARDSNet group as a satellite center to UCSF. He has initiated several large clinical studies at OHSU examining the pathophysiology of ARDS, and SIRS/Sepsis

Dr. Phillips has also helped to form an ongoing collaborative group of investigators to include bioengineers, system scientists, pediatric and adult intensivists to develop a sophisticated closed loop controller of perfusion in septic patients.

Research Interests:

Cardiovascular physiology

Hemodynamic monitoring in sepsis and hemorrhagic shock

Closed loop control in shock,
