Background
Dr. Phoebe Lin was born in Chicago, Illinois, but obtained her undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry. Upon graduation, she was given the Spector Award for best undergraduate Honors thesis. She then returned to her home town of Chicago to attend the joint MD/PhD program at the University of Illinois where she graduated with Honors and received numerous awards for her research. During that time, she also volunteered at various charitable clinics both in Chicago and abroad in Ecuador and India. After medical school and internship in Chicago, Dr. Lin did her residency training at the University of California San Francisco where she was nominated Vice President of the Cordes UCSF alumni association, and also received the Hogan Garcia award for best resident research project. She then went onto Duke University for a fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery and diseases. During her two years at Duke, she was awarded both a Heed Foundation fellowship and the Ron G. Michels fellowship for research and clinical excellence. Dr. Lin has recently joined the faculty at the Casey Eye Institute as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the division or Retinal and Vitreous Diseases, with a research role in the division of Uveitis and Ocular Immunology. In her free time, Dr. Lin enjoys hiking, kayaking, and cooking.
