Background
Patricia A. Carney, Ph.D. is Professor of Family Medicine and Professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, where she is also Associate Director for Population Studies. Dr. Carney received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1994. Her doctoral training includes two specialty areas: health services research (public health and community medicine) and educational psychology. Dr. Carney’s research has been funded by the National Cancer Institute, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the U.S. Department of Defense and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Carney is also involved in educational research in family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology. She has authored or coauthored more than 140 publications in these areas.
