FAQ

These instructions are specific for OHSU Investigators. Samples should only be delivered to the core after the two-step project application form/sample submission form process is complete.

WARNING: DO NOT PUT SAMPLES IN CAMPUS MAIL!

Please use the campus courier service described below.  Samples put in campus mail will take days to get to us and may be compromised by extended delivery times.

Hand delivery of RNA from the main campus to the Center for Health & Healing (CHH) via tram

In order to hand deliver RNA samples to the AMC via the tram from the Marquam  Hill campus, please follow these recommendations:

1. The tram operators are strict regarding the Environmental Health & Radiation Safety (EH&RS) rules governing transport of ''biological material". Before you bring down your samples it may be necessary to obtain an approved transportation container from EH&RS. This container is free for you to keep and can be picked up in the Environmental Health & Radiation Safety office (x4-7795).
   
2. Place the bag/box in the transport container containing dry ice.
   
3. There is a sign in the CHH elevator that states an access card is required to reach the 14th floor. Disregard this during normal business hours.
   
4. Once the person bringing the samples reaches the 14th floor, they may use the phone in the elevator lobby to contact someone in the lab (x8-9378).

Delivery by car or public transport to CHH

Campus courier delivery of RNA from west campus to CHH

1. Packaging samples: Please make sure all desired samples are placed in a plastic bag. If there are a large number of samples, a freezer box may be more appropriate.
    
2. Place the bag/box in a styrofoam container with dry ice.  Make sure samples have a layer of dry ice on top of the bag/box as well.
    
3. Use tape to seal container lid.  Do not completely seal container due to possible pressure buildup.

   PACKAGE CONTAINS DRY ICE.  PLEASE STORE IN FREEZER IF NOT DELIVERED TO THE CHH DOCK ATTENDANT ON THE DAY OF SHIPMENT.

5. Please take package to West Campus Shipping and Receiving and give to Steve  Adkins.  Packages must be delivered to him no later than 12:30pm for same day    delivery to CHH.

6. If samples will be transported by the campus courier, please contact the Affymetrix Microarray Core lab (503-418-9378) so we know to expect the samples.
