Array Technology

Gene Microarray Shared Resource (GMSR) renders services using the Affymetrix GeneChip® and Illumina Bead Array® technology platforms.  Learn more about microarray technology platforms used by the GMSR by selecting the links below.

If your array type is not included above, please contact GMSR User Support for information.

GLOSSARY

Microarray: a 2D array, typically on a glass or silicon wafer, upon which genes or gene fragments are deposited/synthesized making them available to bind complementary genomic sequences, if present, in the sample under analysis.

Platform: the type of commercial array technology such as Affymetrix or Illumina, which offers a wide variety of highly reproducible "off-the-shelf" arrays and limited custom array options.  Spotted DNA microarrays are a non-commercial option (not available through the GMSR).
