About

Portland, OR

The OHSU Gene Microarray Shared Resource (GMSR) was founded in 2001 with the mission to serve research scientists and clinicians as a full-service genomics facility focused on providing high quality, cost efficient research services using DNA microarrays.

Early in 2001, two microarray platforms, Affymetrix and in-house Spotted Arrays, were fully implemented.  In 2007, the GMSR added an Illumina Microarray Core.  In 2009, the Spotted Microarray Core was phased out of service.  Over the course of a decade, the GMSR grew from a staff size of three to seven, became a state-of-the-art facility based on rigorous tracking and standardization, and processed thousands of arrays for customers located at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and elsewhere.  Data generated from the GMSR has contributed to numerous research publications spanning fields such as Cancer Research, Immunology, Stem Cell Research, and Brain Research.

The Gene Microarray Shared Resource (GMSR) is located at the Center for Health & Healing (CHH) on the South Waterfront Campus of OHSU, in Portland, OR.  The GMSR is conveniently accessible from the OHSU main campus on Marquam Hill by the Portland Aerial Tram.  Two core units are currently centralized under the GMSR: the Affymetrix Microarray Core and the Illumina Microarray Core.
