OHSU

OHSU Gene Microarray Shared Resource

The OHSU Gene Microarray Shared Resource (GMSR) functions as a full-service genomics facility serving research scientists and clinicians with DNA microarray services for RNA expression profiling and DNA variation analysis on two microarray platforms, Affymetrix and Illumina.

Support for RNA isolation and RNA/DNA quality assessment also available

The GMSR has Moved to Their New Laboratory!

Please note that the GMSR has moved to their new laboratory in Richard Jones Hall on Marquam Hill.  Come visit our new lab in room 5390.  We are ready to accept samples!

SERVICES WE OFFER

  • Expression Profiling: mRNA and microRNA expression profiling, including options for whole transcript analysis and alternative transcript/exon analysis

  • DNA Variation Analysis: Whole genome and targeted SNP genotyping, copy number, loss of heterozygosity (LOH), and uniparental disomy (UPD) analysis

  • RNA Isolation: Support available for RNA isolation in connection with microarray or sequencing projects

  • RNA/DNA Assessment: Quantification and  size or quality assessment

For all other service inquiries, please contact the GMSR Director.

Unsure which platform and array to use? Questions about minimum RNA quantities required? Use our pull down menu for expression profiling by species to see what arrays and assays are commonly used in the GMSR! Don't see array or species you want? Contact the GMSR potteram@ohsu.edu.

Affymetrix Releases New Cost Cutting Human Array!

Affymetrix has released a new 3' expression array! The Human PrimeView Array assay generates data comparable to the GeneChip Human Genome U133 plus 2.0 array at 1/2 the cost.

I recently ran an expression profiling study using the new Affymetrix Human PrimeView array.  Many genes shown by quantitative PCR beforehand to be induced were well-validated by the array and numerous previously unknown target genes were convincingly identified as being regulated. Given its coverage, performance, and cost I consider the  PrimeView array to be a good option for investigators interested in microarray-based expression profiling."
