Yokogawa CSU-X1 on Zeiss Axio Observer

The Zeiss Cell Observer setup is configured for imaging both fixed and live-cell specimens with standard widefield or spinning disk confocal microscopy. The environmentally controlled motorized stage accepts 35mm dishes, slides and multi-well plates. Software wizards assist with well-plate imaging and tiling of images to capture areas larger than a single field-of-view.

Modalities offered:

  • Brightfield Imaging: System equipped with a transmitted white light source for high quality black and white brighfield imaging.

  • Widefield Fluorescence Imaging: System equipped to image fluorescent samples using an LED light source. Widefield microscopy does not optically section samples, but it collects more light and is faster than confocal imaging.

  • Spinning Disk Confocal: Provides the optical sectioning ability of a conventional laser scanning confocal but gentler and at much faster speeds.
