Jian Guo, Ph.D.
Fascinated by the therapeutic potential of simple yet unique foam bubbles, Dr. Jian Guo recently joined in Center for Regenerative Medicine at OHSU to explore the medical uses of microfoam. His current research primarily focuses on the development of novel therapeutic microfoams and their delivery systems for regenerative medicine and women's care. Dr. Guo is a biomaterial scientist with over 20 years of R&D experience in the healthcare and fiber industries. Prior to joining in OHSU, Dr. Guo held positions as a leading scientist at Oregon Biomedical Engineering Institute, Oregon Biomedical Laser Center, Johnson & Johnson Co. and International Paper Co.
Dr. Guo is an expert in the field of natural polysaccharides, from their chemistry, manufacturing process to applications for medical devices, wound dressings and textile products. He has extensive experience in the design and development of advanced hemostats and wound care products based on biopolymers for military and surgical use. His previous research also involved in in-vitro and in-vivo studies of a wide range of healthcare products including powders, films, patches, sponges, and injectable hydrogel dressings.
Dr. Guo enjoys playing table tennis when away from work. In his own words; "It is a great way to boost my energy when dealing with all the new challenges of complex research"
