Research Divisions

To study human health and disease, the ONPRC uses nonhuman primate models.  Their similarity to human DNA gives us a keen insight into the interrelation of various diseases and enables us to develop innovative treatments that improve health and longevity. Couple that with our strong foundation of basic research and applied pharmaceutical and preclinical trials, and we can launch medical breakthroughs that transform the way we view and treat disease.  

We are organized into three research divisions—Neuroscience, Pathobiology & Immunology, and Reproductive Sciences—each led by expert senior researchers. But because we feel that a broad scientific network is vital to accelerating discovery, we function across disciplines. Our Division Heads work closely together with the Director and Working Group leaders, and we frequently invite luminaries from diverse scientific backgrounds to speak at our sponsored events. This integrated approach gives us a deeper understanding of AIDS, aging, stem cell biology, women’s health, and neurological diseases. With this broad knowledge base, we can accelerate discovery and bring new medical technologies to the scientific community faster.
