Several significant health research breakthroughs have occurred at the Oregon National Primate Research Center including many that have received international attention. One recent breakthrough - the reprogramming of skin cells into embryonic stem cells - was named along with a complementary human study as the #1 science breakthrough of 2007 by TIME Magazine.
