Catheter Access (Groshong, Port-a-Cath, PICC & Hickman)
OCTRI research nurses are trained to access the following catheters for both medication administration and specimen collection:
- Groshong
- Port-a-Cath
- PICC
- Hickman
Skilled pediatric research nurses can also access the central line catheters noted above in pediatric participants. OCTRI maintains the Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center (PCTRC) in Doernbecher Children's Hospital, which allows investigators to bring young study participants and their families into a welcoming, supportive environment for both inpatient and outpatient visits.
