2010 OCTRI Awards Dinner Information for Participants
Submit Your Updated Abstract
Abstract Submission Deadline: Wednesday, September 1, 2010
OCTRI is publishing an Abstract Book for this year's event. All principal investigators on OCTRI pilot projects and strategic investments are encouraged to submit an updated project title and abstract. OCTRI will use the most recent version of the project abstract for investigators who do not submit updates.

Present a Poster
All investigators who have received pilot project or strategic investment funding from OCTRI are encouraged to present a poster at the Awards Dinner. Principal investigators who received project funding in 2009 are required to present at the 2010 OCTRI Awards Dinner. Required poster presenters have been notified. If you would like to present a poster and have not been notified, please contact octri@ohsu.edu.
Deadlines
Electronic versions of posters are due to octri@ohsu.edu by Monday, September 27, 2010.
Printed posters can be dropped off at the following times and locations:
- Tuesday, September 28 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to the front desk at Hatfield Research Center, 10D.
- Wednesday, September 29 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to Doernbecher Vey Auditorium

Attend the Awards Dinner
Principal investigators who received project funding in 2009 are required to present at the 2010 OCTRI Awards Dinner. Most participants will prepare posters, but the OCTRI Director will ask a few awardees to prepare a talk. Participants will be notified in early August about which type of presentation to prepare.
All awardees, including co-investigators, are encouraged to attend the OCTRI Awards Dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to submit an abstract?
- All recipients of pilot project or strategic investment funding are encouraged to submit an updated abstract by September 1, 2010.
- All abstracts will be published and distributed at the Awards Dinner in the Abstract Book.
- Only 2009 recipients of funding are required to submit a poster or prepare an oral presentation. See below for additional details about required participants.
- Abstracts should be no more than 350 words and fit onto one page.
- The title should be brief, clearly indicating the nature of your project. You may want to adapt the title from your original proposal to reflect the focus on outcomes.
Am I a participant?
- Participants are required to present either a poster or talk at the event.
- You are a participant if you received OCTRI pilot project or strategic investment funding in 2009. View a list of 2009 Pilot Project Awardees.
- You have received strategic investment support from OCTRI between 2008 and 2010. Contact John Caruso with any questions.
What if I am unable to attend?
If you are unable to attend, please identify a co-investigator who can attend in your place. Contact John Caruso to confirm who will represent your project at the OCTRI Awards Dinner.
Am I preparing a poster or an oral presentation?
OCTRI will notify participants in early August to let them know whether they should prepare a poster or talk.
What are the poster and presentation guidelines?
By early August, OCTRI will notify all participants whether they are presenting a poster or brief talk. OCTRI will identify 3-4 principal investigators to give talks.
Poster Specifications & Resources

- Posters should be one of two sizes: 36”h x 48”w or 48”h x 48”w. Posters larger than these dimensions may not fit on the tack boards.
- Poster presenters should make their own arrangements for printing the poster.

Oral Presentation Guidelines

- This will be a standard 10-minute talk followed by five minutes of questions.
- All presentations will happen between 5:15 and 6:30 pm.
- There will be a moderator and standard audio-visual capabilities.
What about the final report? Is it due now? Do I still have to submit a final report?
- Final reports are not due at this time (unless previously arranged). Pilot Project awardees should contact the John Caruso with any questions about their final reports.
- Final reports for Pilot Project and Strategic Initiative awardees are due within 60 days of the end of the project. See report guidelines. KL2 Scholars are notified by the Education and Career Development program when their final reports are due.
