Retreats & Interest Groups
OCTRI sponsors and organizes retreats, interest groups, and seminars that aim to bring researchers, community partners, industry, and government representatives together to spark collaboration. We have a track record of sponsoring retreats that result in concrete outcomes -- most often NIH grant applications.
We are especially interested in retreats and interest groups that:
- Spark collaborations between OHSU and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research.
- Bring basic scientists together with clinical researchers.
- Connect researchers with other community, academic, government, and industry partners.
- Bridge gaps among departments and schools.
- Identify opportunities to leverage institutional research resources.
In addition to expert event coordination and administrative support, successful retreat organizers are available to consult with scientific and administrative leads on the scope, goals, and framework of each retreat.
OCTRI also supports interest groups. Retreats are usually one-time events, and interest groups have emerged as an opportunity for researchers with similar interests to meet on a regular basis to exchange current information and dialogue about research ideas. Interest groups provide a unique opportunity for OHSU researchers to connect with investigators from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research (KPCHR). Current interest groups include Chronic Pain.Learn more about the partnership between OHSU and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research.
Seminars & Workshops
OCTRI also sponsors seminars to educate the research community and general public about current research activities and capabilities, raise awareness of underutilized and emerging resources, communicate best practices, and enhance professional development. OCTRI also brings world-renowned leaders from the fields of clinical and translational science, evaluation and process improvement, professional development, and health information technology.
