For over 25 years the OHSU MS Center has been providing care to people with MS while conducting research seeking to find new treatments for MS. The OHSU MS Center is not just the regional leader in MS care and research but is one of the nation’s premier MS Centers.
Our patient care philosophy is simple. We believe in providing people with MS with the knowledge they need to make decisions about treatment and to live full and high quality lives.
Our staff consists of neurologists and nurses who are experts in providing care to people with MS. We work closely with physical, occupational and speech therapists, an urologist, and a neuropsychologist who are experienced in treating people with MS. We also make referrals to mental health experts as needed.
Our research team is composed of over 40 research and clinician scientists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research assistants and research nurses. We have over $2.5 million a year in research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National MS Society and other foundations and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. We have a comprehensive research program that includes laboratory research designed to understand the cause of MS while developing novel therapies and clinical research involving volunteers from our clinic and the community.
Our faculty is also regional and national educators. We offer education to physicians and other health care providers, people with MS and their families and the community about the latest advances in MS.
