The OHSU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is a multidisciplinary group of physicians, nurses, psychologists and neuroscientists dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy. The only university based epilepsy program in Oregon, the center has become a state and national resource providing comprehensive clinical care, innovative research and consultation to referring physicians throughout the region.

Epilepsy is a condition of recurrent unprovoked seizures. A seizure is an abnormal, uncontrolled electrical discharge in the brain. While an isolated seizure may occur from extreme stresses such as high fever or low blood sugar, epilepsy means a seizure disorder where there is a disturbance in the electrical system of the brain leading to seizures in the absence of these extreme stresses.
