Biography
Dr. Barry S. Oken has been associated with the center since its inception and regularly sees people in the clinic as well as being associate director. Dr. Oken's research interests include cognitive changes related to aging and Alzheimer's disease, and complementary and alternative medicine therapies for people with neurological disorders and for caregivers. He is director of the Oregon Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Neurological Disorders whose mission is to facilitate research and education on the effectiveness and mechanisms of action of CAM therapies in the treatment of neurological disorders. As part of this he leads an NIH-funded training program that funds pre- and post-doctoral trainees to pursue academic research in this area.
