Gene Bowman

Gene L. Bowman, N.D., M.P.H.
Assistant Professor of Neurology

Biography

Dr. Bowman has a strong track record for leading interdisciplinary research teams interested in the role of diet and nutritional status in healthy brain aging. This includes applying epidemiological and clinical research methods in people at risk, and those with a diagnosis of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. The laboratory is particularly interested in ways to individualize nutritional therapies and how dietary patterns and nutrients collectively and independently influence brain aging and mental thinking abilities or cognitive function. This program supports public health efforts for reducing the frequency and progression of age-related cognitive decline, including Alzheimer’s disease and vascular cognitive impairment.
