Dr. Graville earned her Masters in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University and her Ph.D. in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon. She completed her Fellowship at the Portland V.A. Medical Center. She has over ten years of experience in speech pathology, voice restoration and dysphagia. She has conducted research in voice and voice restoration. In addition to her OHSU duties, Dr. Graville functions as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Oregon and Portland State University.

Trish Stanley, RRT

Respiratory Therapist

Trish Stanley has been a respiratory therapist since 1982, and has worked as a discharge planner since 1998. She helps people locate local medical equipment vendors.

Trish also offers advice to patients, vendors and physicians on authorization guidelines for home respiratory equipment and on how this equipment can be best used to meet the special needs of persons with ALS.

Melanie Fried-Oken, Ph.D., C.C.C./Sp

Augumentative Speech Specialist

Dr. Fried-Oken is the director of the OHSU Augmentative Communication Clinic. She received her Ph.D. in Language Behavior from Boston University and a Master's degree in Communication Disorders from Northwestern University.

Since 1981, she has helped individuals with speech or writing impairments, and their families, find ways to interact successfully. She offers strategies from behavior changes to technology so patients can express themselves fully.
