This project was funded by the Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research grant number H133A080031. The project involved:
- Review and synthesis of existing research on health outcomes and utilization of health care among subgroups of individuals with disabilities.
- Secondary data analyses using the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey to identify individual, systems, and environmental level factors that relate to health care access and health status among subgroups of persons with disabilities.
We collaborated with Jana Peterson-Besse, MPH, PhD, and also worked with a national Expert Panel who helped us define key questions and analytic models and assisted in disseminating project findings. The Expert Panel members were:
- Elena Andresen, PhD
- Glenn Fujiura, PhD
- Henry Ireys, PhD
- Lisa Iezzoni, MD, MSc
- Gloria Krahn, PhD, MPH
