Live Cell Imaging

The Live Cell Imaging Facility located in CROET room 1553 offers CROET staff and other members of the OHSU community access to equipment for taking high-resolution images of fixed and living specimens. The facility is equipped with a laser-scanning confocal microscope for analysis of thicker specimens and a conventional fluorescence light microscope suited for straightforward acquisition of digital images from cultured cells. A particular emphasis of the facility is the use of green fluorescent protein and its variants to visualize protein movement in living cells.

The primary contact person for use of the facility is Dr. Stefanie Kaech Petrie, manager of the Live Cell Imaging Facility. She can be contacted by email at kaechs@ohsu.edu or phone at (503) 494-3963. Access is open to all of the OHSU community, with priority granted to CROET employees. All users have to complete a training session prior to their first use of the facility at a cost from $50 to $150 depending on the level of training required. A fee of $30/hour is charged for confocal use to cover the cost of maintenance.
