CHSE releases report for OHA on Oregon uninsured rates by county

02/27/15  Portland, Ore.

Medicaid expansion accounts for higher leaps in insurance rates in some counties

Overall, the report found that Oregon's current uninsurance rate hovers at 5.6%, revised from a 5.1% estimate from last September. Before implementation of the ACA, Oregon's rate was estimated at 14.5%.

Increases in Medicaid enrollment accounted for much of the variation between counties' rates of increase in insurance levels. Oregon was one of 27 states in the country that opted to accept federal funds to expand Medicaid coverage to residents with incomes up to 138% of the federal poverty line.
