Federal budget basics

Sound budget planning is critical to the financial support of research at OHSU. Well planned budgets facilitate responsible use of funds and also help to maintain great relationships with our sponsors.

Learners will gain skills and insight into the the budgeting considerations and components informed by policy, guidance, and program announcements for proposals through Research Grants & Contracts. We will explore policy, cost considerations, federal budget preparation, and further resources.

Learn how to budget for costs in a way that sets your department up for success by planning for the allowability of expenditures to be made during post-award management of funds. In this class, we'll build a federal R01 budget and explore variations in cost considerations in order to effectively support primarily federal projects. Be ready for hands-on group work to build a budget!
