The Research & Academic Volunteer Services program registers approximately 550 volunteers annually between the ages of 16-89. These volunteers contribute over 200,000 hours of service annually. These incredible relationships not only contribute to the goals and missions of each area in which they serve, but by hosting these volunteers, OHSU carries out its institution-wide research, education, and outreach missions.
Volunteers who come to OHSU gain valuable hands-on research experience, which may bolster their current or future education and career goals. Additionally, volunteers are often given the opportunity to network with established research scientists and medical professionals. Above all, volunteers gain a sense of accomplishment by giving back to OHSU, to their community, and to future generations who will benefit from medical research being conducted today.
