Marta Pustkowski
"That calls us, by grace, we will perform in measure, time, and space."
Marta was driving her friend's car on a two lane highway in Szczecin, Poland in April 2002, when she crashed into a garbage truck at 95mph while trying to pass it. Marta and her passenger were both wearing seat belts and the airbags deployed. The crash left Marta with a broken femur, humerus, elbow, a crushed knee, and a brain injury causing memory lapse, left sided neurological dysfunction from head to tow, multiple vision impairments, and generally reduced motor and thinking capabilities.
Before the crash, Marta was active with academics, volunteering, working, weight training, running and hanging out with friends. Today, she is focusing on regaining her ability to live independently and training to be a national guest speaker. She is studying to attain her counseling degree from Portland State University and enjoys telling her story to youth of all ages.
