Rural physicians and primary care providers have the opportunity to offer comments on the new physician payment system that will be created as a result of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued a Request for Information (RFI) to inform its work in implementing the new formula that ties yearly physician fee schedule (PFS) adjustments to value through the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Of particular interest for rural stakeholders, CMS seeks input on the way that quality improvement requirements should be applied to professionals in rural areas and FORHP encourages rural providers to submit comments. The deadline for comments is 5:00 pm ET on Monday, November 2, 2015. CMS will hold the second of two webinars on MACRA, MIPS, and APMs, on Thursday, October 15 at 2 pm ET.
