Updated 2014 Rural Hospital Listening Tour Report

07/27/15  Portland, Ore.

In November 2014, the Oregon Office of Rural Health (ORH) organized a listening tour of Oregon’s rural hospitals.

Sponsored by the Oregon Rural Healthcare Quality Network (ORHQN), the tour brought together ORH, the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to collaboratively learn more about what rural hospitals think is important and challenging during this period of health reform. Twenty-seven hospitals participated in the tour. The report summarizes the challenges reported by the hospitals, adds data to provide the Oregon context of these challenges where possible, and describes what OHA, OAHHS and ORH are doing around each of these issues. ORH hopes this report will help as state partners and facilities work together to develop solutions.

This report has been updated following new information from the close of the legislative session.
