ORH Recognizes Oregon's Critical Access Hospitals’ Top Quality Reporters
07/28/16 Portland, Ore.
If you work at one of Oregon’s 25 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs), you have heard of MBQIP.
Instituted by The Federal Office or Rural Health Policy (FORHP) in 2011, the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP), is a set of quality measures specific to low volume Critical Access Hospitals. MBQIP provides an opportunity for CAHs to look at the quality data that makes sense for them and to develop quality improvement activities to provide the highest quality care to their patients. MBQIP is voluntary and all 25 of Oregon’s CAHs participate. It’s a proactive approach to ensure CAHs are prepared to meet future reporting requirements as well as performance based payment models.
ORH is pleased to announce the following CAHs as top performers and recognize their Quality Officers for doing such a great job!
In the current environment of many, many reporting requirements, these CAHs have demonstrated consistent reporting and strong results.
Congratulations to the following MBQIP top performers:
FOR REPORTING ALL QUALITY MEASURES
Arielle LaVeaux at Salem Health West Valley Hospital
FOR REPORTING ON EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT TRANSFER COMMUNICATION MEASURES
Theresa Via at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital
Nancy Bond at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital
Verda Hale at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital
FOR REPORTING ON OUTPATIENT MEASURES
Jim Gryte at PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Hospital

To recognize these hospitals for their commitment to quality reporting and quality improvement efforts, ORH has awarded one scholarship to the Quality Officer at each CAH to attend the 33rd Annual Rural Health Conference as well as a $5,000 grant to be used towards quality improvement efforts in the area of recognition.
