USDA Assistance for Rural Health Care Through the Community Facilities Program
Rural Development's Community Facilities Program provides loans, loan guarantees and grants to develop essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.
Funding may be approved for the construction of a hospital, dental clinic, nursing home, outpatient facility or physician clinic.
In addition, rural health care providers may apply for funding support for the purchase of equipment, such as a new CT scanner or mammography equipment. This also includes software and hardware costs associated with installing modern Health Information Technology.
Under the Community Facilities Program, public entities, such as municipalities, counties, and special-purpose districts, as well as non-profit corporations and tribal governments may apply for assistance, subject to the availability of funding. Grants are limited. Most of the funding support comes in the form of loans and loan guarantees.
