Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) gather and distribute an enormous range of information about hospitals and clinics across the U.S. In their continuing efforts to improve the U.S. health system, they monitor a variety of data and use them to adjust how Medicare and Medicaid interact with providers.

Working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other members of the Hospital Quality Alliance: Improving Care Through Information (HQA), CMS makes certain kinds of quality data available to the public through a tool called "Hospital Compare."

Hospital Compare

The Hospital Compare database allows you to compare how different hospitals compare on treatment for certain medical conditions and procedures.

Any tool has limitations, and the Hospital Compare database is no different. If you have questions, feel free to talk with your doctor or ask us.
