Visiting Medical Student Program

Description of visiting rotation

This rotation is intended for fourth-year students considering a career in Urology. Students function in a sub-intern role with house staff and faculty on the urology service and participate in all educational activities of the OHSU urology program.

Students can expect to observe and participate in the management of a wide variety of adult & pediatric urological disorders in an outpatient, inpatient, and operative setting. Students will be exposed to the full range of urologic subspecialties, including urologic oncology, pediatric urology, male infertility, stone disease, female and male reconstructive urology. Students will spend 3 weeks at OHSU Medical Center and 1 week at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Students will give a presentation at the weekly departmental Grand Rounds at the end of the rotation.

Scholarships for Visiting Students Urology Sub-Internship Rotation

OHSU Department of Urology is proud to offer two scholarships, to visiting students with financial need, to assist in the cost of a visiting rotation.  Interested students should submit a 500-word (or less) essay to, driscols@ohsu.edu, describing their financial need.     

  1. American Bladder Cancer Society Medical Student Scholarship. This fund provides an annual stipend of $3,000 to students who participate in a sub-internship visiting rotation in urology at OHSU. We thank the American Bladder Cancer Society for their generous donation and commitment to the field of urology. https://bladdercancersupport.org/ 
  2. The OHSU Department of Urology offers an annual grant of $2,500 to help cover the significant expense of participating in a sub-internship visiting rotation.
