Brain and Spinal Cord Cancer
Our doctors are experts at treating brain and spinal cord tumors. We work with neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, specialists from radiology, pathology, neuro-oncology and radiation oncology to ensure that you get the best, most compassionate care.
There are many types of brain and spinal cord tumors. A primary tumor is one that starts in the brain or spinal cord. A metastatic tumor starts somewhere else and spreads to the brain or spinal cord.
Types of cancer that can spread to the brain are:
- Melanoma
- Breast cancer
- Colon cancer
- Lung and kidney cancer
Types of cancer that can spread to the spinal cord are:
- Lymphoma
- Lung cancer
- Breast and prostate cancer
If our experts think you might have a spinal cord or brain tumor, they might do a biopsy, removing a small sample of tissue for testing.
