"I know that a chronic illness effects not only the patient, but the entire family. My role in caring for children with rare metabolic disorders is first to educate the family about the disorder, its treatment, and to encourage them to live life with a child with the disorder and not have the disorder be their life. Parents are the key to caring for these children and I seek their individual insight to better understand a child and his special course in dealing with his diagnosed disorder."
