Biography
Vanessa grew up in Monroe, LA. Following high school, Vanessa studied Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, before moving west to work in San Francisco, CA. There, she worked at St. Jude Medical providing technical support for patients, physicians, and other employees on pacemakers and implantable defibrillators. She also spent a year performing clinical research with ALS patients at the ALS Center of UCSF. After four years in San Francisco, she decided to go to medical school and returned to New Orleans to attend Tulane University School of Medicine. Her many experiences at Tulane working with underserved populations in New Orleans and internationally reinforced her belief that a career in family medicine was the best way for her to provide quality primary care to those in her community. Vanessa chose OHSU for its breadth of training, ties to its community, and great reputation. She looks forward to becoming a part of the OHSU family and discovering all that Portland has to offer.
