Biography
Dr Yuen completed his fellowship training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He also spent an additional 5 years in clinical research at the University of Cambridge Department of Pediatrics studying the effects of low dose growth hormone treatment on insulin resistance in hypopituitary adults with growth hormone deficiency, and subjects with metabolic syndrome. Due to his interest in pituitary diseases and insulin resistance, Dr Yuen focuses his clinical practice on the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary and adrenal tumors, pituitary dysfunction with a particular interest in growth hormone deficiency and excess, hypogonadism, cortisol deficiency and excess, and types 1 and 2 diabetes. He also has a particular interest in endocrine disorders in young adult cancer survivors and adults with traumatic brain injuries. In the pituitary field of research, Dr Yuen has conducted many growth hormone dosing and diagnostic studies, and long-acting growth hormone preparation and growth hormone secretagogue studies in the treatment and diagnosis of adults with growth hormone deficiency, respectively. In the diabetes field of research, Dr Yuen has conducted studies that focus on glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists treatment on cardiovascular events in type 2 diabetes, and automated glucagon delivery in a closed loop system in type 1 diabetes. Dr. Yuen is the Medical Director of the Dynamic Endocrine Testing Unit and serves on several medical committees including the Pituitary Scientific Committee for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
