Biography
Following his anesthesiology residency and pain training at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Stacey joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and eventually became Medical Director of the Pain Evaluation and Treatment Institute. In 1996 he returned to the West, taking a position as the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Pain Center at OHSU where he is Professor of Anesthesiology & Peri-Operative Medicine and Division Chief of Pain Medicine. Dr. Stacey’s clinical, research, and educational efforts are devoted to treating patients with acute and chronic pain. He has a particular interest in patients with neuropathic pain including neuropathy, nerve injury, and CRPS. Another focus of his practice is treating patients with ongoing spinal pain. He is an expert in combining interventional, medication, and rehabilitation approaches with particular expertise in Spinal Cord Stimulation. Dr. Stacey leads a team of specialists at the Comprehensive Pain Center focused on improving the lives of chronic pain patients. He served on the board of directors of the American Board of Pain Medicine from 2000 to 2003. He has more than 50 publications and several ongoing research projects focused on moving new treatments into patient care.
