Biography
Joannie Kono, RN has 30 years of nursing experience and has been a certified diabetes educator since 1985. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She specializes in the education and care of children and adolescents with diabetes and is an insulin pump specialist. Joannie is actively involved in the diabetes community serving on the board of Gales Creek Camp for Children with Diabetes, the ADA Safe at School committee and as a volunteer with the Chris Dudley Foundation . She was the recipient of the ADA Hero Award for her volunteer work on behalf of children in 2006.
