Biography
Kari Kohrs is the Diabetes Education Program Manager at the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center. She has experience in both pediatric and adult diabetes education, as well as in both type 1 and type 2, and gestational diabetes education and management. Kari has experience in insulin pump training and management and enjoys working with this technology. Kari uses motivational interviewing in dialog with her patients in order to engage them in their diabetes management. As part of her diabetes education program management role at OHSU, she is continually striving to make diabetes education more accessible, meaningful and a worthwhile experience for both the young and the older person with diabetes. In her leisure time, Kari enjoys many outdoor activities including taking long walks, trail running, biking, hiking anywhere possible, and camping. The Pacific Northwest has so many outdoor options to choose from that she often finds herself being pulled between too many appealing choices. When she cannot decide, she may just settle in to dabble with other interests such as watercolor painting, cake decorating, letter writing, or planning her chicken coop design.
