"Current therapies are often inadequate for the treatment of genetic disorders, but new advances are occurring rapidly in our field. I find it rewarding to be able to offer the newest breakthroughs in diagnosis and therapy to our patients."
Dr. Grompe specializes in taking care of children with inborn errors of metabolism and other genetic defects. Many of these conditions are initially found by newborn screening (heel prick blood test at birth). He is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, dieticians, genetic counselors and physicians. This team offers diagnostic evaluations, genetic counseling, dietary therapy, enzyme replacement therapy and referral for transplantation for genetic metabolic conditions.Dr. Grompe is an avid outdoors man, who enjoys mountaineering, hiking, skiing, bicycling and scuba diving. Cycle Oregon is one of his most favorite events. He has four children and recently became a grandfather. On the artistic side he is a serious hobby-photographer and jazz lover.
