Dr. Barry Schlansky is a general and transplant hepatologist specializing in liver cancer, viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease and cirrhosis before and after liver transplantation. Hisresearch focuses on hepatocellular carcinoma, complications of cirrhosis and allocation of organs for transplantation. His other professional interests include medical ethics, history of medicine and teaching. Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Schlansky graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College and completed a medical student fellowship in Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania. He migrated west for an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Washington and specialty fellowships in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at OHSU. During his fellowship, he earned a master’s degree in public health. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Outside of work, Dr. Schlansky enjoys family time, reading fiction, and cycling, skiing and hiking the scenic Pacific Northwest.
