Susanne Shokoohi was born in Iran and moved to several places, including Turkey and New Jersey, before settling in Rochester, Michigan with her family at age six. She attended the University of Michigan, where she majored in Neuroscience. While an undergrad, Susanne was involved in several student groups, including choreographing for the Persian Student Association and volunteering with oncology patients at U of M hospital. Her enjoyment for new places led her to North Carolina for medical school at Wake Forest University. Given her love for traveling and international healthcare, Susanne volunteered in Belize, Costa Rica, and Iran. In trying to make a decision about where to spend her next few years, she thought Portland would be a new and unique experience. Susanne, her best friend (a pediatric resident) and their two dogs, Hapu and Audrey, made the long trek across the country from NC. Her outside interests include travel, trying various ethnic foods, European football, and online shopping. Susanne plans a career in academic medicine, with specific interests in GI and Primary Care. She is fluent in Farsi.
