Emily Morgan was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but moved to Spokane, Washington at the age of two. In Spokane, she grew to love the outdoors and all the Pacific Northwest region has to offer. She attended the University of Oregon and earned a B.S. in General Science, with minors in Biology and Anthropology. During her time in Eugene, Emily learned the art of baking and worked as a pastry chef for a local bakery, making everything from cookies and pies to wedding cakes. She also spent time in Eugene as a radio news reporter for the local NPR station, doing local, regional, and national reporting, as well as co-hosting the live local radio news show. After graduating from college, Emily moved to Portland and began four years of molecular genetics research at Shriners Hospital for Children. During this time she also became involved in volunteer work at a local Hospice and developed a bereavement call program for a local palliative care group. Her current career interest is geriatrics, though palliative care remains a focus area. Outside of medicine, Emily spends as much time as possible with her partner and two children (Baxter, age 7 and Edie, age 4). She also loves running, hiking, skiing, gardening, and baking, and she is a proud supporter of public radio.
