Brian Jeppesen grew up in Seattle, Washington. He attended Western Washington University and graduated cum laude with a BS in Biochemistry. During his undergraduate years, he conducted research on a protein involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. He also trained as an EMT for volunteer work in search and rescue groups. These experiences as an undergraduate student led him to pursue a career in medicine. Following graduation, he worked in a biochemistry research lab at the University of Washington until he matriculated to medical school. In 2006, Brian and his wife, Julie, moved to Portland so he could attend Oregon Health and Science University. They both love living in Portland for its friendly atmosphere, good dining and abundant outdoor activities. During medical school, Brian traveled to Papua, New Guinea for a medical mission trip to serve people in several remote highland villages. He also spent an additional year in medical school as a student pathology fellow, learning gross and histologic diagnoses in the fields of surgical pathology and autopsy. Brian anticipates further developing his professional interests as an internal medicine resident at OHSU. In his free time, he enjoys backcountry skiing, mountaineering, hiking, biking, and brewing beer.
