"I see medicine as a partnership between doctor and patient. I seek to develop meaningful relationships with my patients and help them to take control of their own health and achieve the best level of health possible."
Nathan Brooks was born and raised in Portland, graduating from Cleveland High School and Oregon State University. He spent the last few years at Boston University School of Medicine, where he trained primarily at Boston's main safety net hospital and community health centers. His training was supplemented with rural training in Appalachian Virginia and international health in Costa Rica, and he also devoted an extra year to studying public health. He is thrilled to be returning to Portland and to OHSU. He loves family medicine for the opportunity to provide full-spectrum care (including adult primary care, pediatrics and obstetrics/maternity care), the chance to establish long-term relationships with patients, and the focus on preventive medicine. He works to educate patients and empower them to become full partners in their own health care. In his free time, Nathan enjoys spending time with his family (especially his 2-year-old son, Sondre), playing pickup basketball, running, biking, playing music, and church activities.
