"As a mental health professional, I enjoy working with people and have a true appreciation for the nature of struggle and our effort as human beings to overcome those struggles. I take pleasure in being able to assist others in finding strengths they never before realized existed and further empowering them to utilize those strengths in various aspects of their everyday lives."

Consistent with my education and training in the greater New York and Los Angeles areas, my theoretical orientation is primarily psychodynamic in nature. Specifically, with a focus in the areas of existential psychology, self-psychology, object relations, and, more recently, intersubjective theories. I am also interested in the interplay between culture, discrimination, and mental illness. I have several additional interests within the discipline of psychology that include adolescent male development, physical and sexual trauma, juvenile delinquency, correctional mental health, community and domestic violence, men's issues, gay affirmative psychotherapy, couples/marital psychotherapy, identity development, loss, grief, and bereavement, addictive behaviors, media psychology, community psychology/community mental health, multicultural competence and diversity training.

Prior to joining the treatment team at the Avel Gordly Center for Healing, I was employed at the counseling center at Oregon State University where I worked with college students to improve their overall mental health, addressing the specific concerns of African-American students, college athletes, and students within the LGBT community. In addition, I facilitated a series of workshops on race for students, staff and faculty. Also, since my arrival in Oregon, I have and continue to remain an active member of the Men’s Engagement Committee within the Oregon Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Task Force.

Although I have called the west coast home for more than ten years, I hail from Brooklyn, New York. Remaining true to my roots, I am deeply passionate about my love of the New York Mets, New York Giants, and New York Knicks. I tend to have an adventurous spirit and enjoy long road trips, hiking, biking, rollercoasters, base jumping, skydiving, and on a slow day…walking my five year-old Chihuahua/Parson Russell Terrier mix dog, Squirt.
