"Plastic and reconstructive surgery is a marriage between form and function. My goal is to restore my patients’ self-confidence, whether through cosmetic or reconstructive procedures, so that my patients can look, feel, and function at their best. I feel highly privileged and find satisfaction in being able to help my patients during such an important time in their lives."
Dr. Thakar maintains a dual appointment as an Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at OHSU. She takes pride in providing comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgery care in a safe and compassionate manner to her patients. Dr. Thakar's specific interests include: facial rejuvenation, aesthetic surgery of the breast, and cosmetic procedures for massive weight loss patients. Although she trained with a group of internationally respected cosmetic surgeons, her area of expertise is in breast reconstruction, particularly with newer muscle-sparing TRAM, DIEP and SIEA techniques. In addition, Dr. Thakar works closely with the Division of Urology to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to genitourinary reconstruction after cancer or trauma.
