Biography
Dr. Delashaw is a neurosurgeon with expertise in primary brain tumors, skull base, cerebello-pontine angle, acoustic neuroma, pituitary tumors as well as cerebral aneurysms. Dr. Delashaw graduated from Stanford University in 1979 and attended the University of Washington School of Medicine. In 1992, he was recruited to OHSU from the University of Florida where he specializied in brain tumors and skull base tumors. In cooperation with the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and Sean McMenomey, M.D., the skull base team offers neurosurgical therapies for skull base tumors, acoustic neuromas, and vascular lesions (aneurysms, AVMs). Dr. Delashaw is also a part of the OHSU Pituitary Unit which closely coordinates with the Division of Endocrinology in the management of pituitary tumors. The OHSU Intraoperative MRI is an integral part of treating pituitary tumors that require surgery. Advanced nonsurgical treatment protocols for brain tumors such as glioblastoma multiforme and other gliomas are also offered through the center. Dr. Delashaw performs approximately 400 craniotomies per year to treat difficult primary brain tumors, acoustic neuromas and cerebral aneurysms. He has published in numerous neurosurgery and otolaryngology journals and every year conducts courses on surgical approaches and management for difficult brain tumors for international audiences.
