Biography
Dr. Kevin G. Billingsley is the Hedinger associate professor and chief of the division of surgical oncology. He serves as chairman of the OHSU Cancer Committee and he is a member of the OHSU Cancer Institute.
A native of Colorado, Dr. Billingsley is a graduate of Stanford University and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Billingsley obtained his surgical training at OHSU. He completed an oncology research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute and a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Billingsley’s practice focuses on gastrointestinal cancer, predominantly the surgical treatment of liver and pancreatic tumors, as well as GI stromal tumor and function-preserving treatment for rectal cancer. He works closely with medical oncologists throughout the Western United States on the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with colorectal liver metastases. Minimally invasive surgical techniques are integral to his practice.
Dr. Billingsley’s research focuses on clinical trials and outcomes research in gastrointestinal cancer. He serves as surgical investigator for a number of large clinical trials. Many of his outcomes studies focus on the optimal treatment and evaluation of pancreatic and colorectal cancer.
When asked about his philosophy on patient care, Dr. Billingsley says, "I believe in combining my subspecialty expertise with a warm and open relationship with patients and their families to insure the best possible outcomes, even for difficult clinical problems."
