PGY1 / PGY2 HEALTH-SYSTEM PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION / MS HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT

This residency is a two year program designed to provide concentrated training in clinical practice and the administration of health-system pharmacy.  The resident will obtain advanced knowledge in clinical practice and expertise in pharmacy administration, management, and leadership activities.


Throughout the program, residents will actively participate in the following activities:
  • Complete PGY1 program requirements
  • Develop skills in information technology, automation, and project management
  • Participate in medication safety programming and development
  • Build human resource skills by taking the pharmacy administrator on-call pager and managing the intern program
  • Precept Doctor of Pharmacy clerkship students and participate in academic activities
  • Understand senior management and strategy
  • Gain exposure to contract and supply chain management
  • Conduct leadership and managerial activities within ambulatory, inpatient, and outpatient operations, including specialty pharmacy services
  • Longitudinal participation in financial management  activities including billing, budgeting, and reimbursement
  • Develop an advanced understanding of clinical operations
  • Complete a two-year Master of Science in Healthcare Management Degree or Masters of Business Administration
